The Battery, also called Drumline, marches in formation on the field. A full-size battery features
* 7–10 snare drummers
* 4–5 tenor drummers
* 5 bass drummers
* cymbal players
The crab walk is a difficult marching technique that allows the drummers to move sideways and still keep the volume of the drums facing toward the audience and judges.
Tenor drums are mounted sets of 4 to 6 drums allowing one person to carry and play multiple drums simultaneously. The number-specific term "quads" is often used as a generic term even for configurations with more than four drums.
What would you do in on a hot summer afternoon in Texas, Tennessee, or Georgia? If you are in Drum Corps, you are practicing 10 hours a day, 7 days a week, no matter how hot.
“Drill” is the term for all the complex moves you see on the field. In practice, they repeat a small segment, sometimes less than a minute over and over for an entire afternoon to get it right. When the Drill Sergeant yells “RESET” they all run back to their starting points and begin again.
